The petals of thyme (creeping thyme), meadow sage, direct purum have already showered. But the flowering bed continues the real bedstraw, St. John's wort, meadow cornflower, yarrow, mullein, clover ... A real rainbow spreads on a steep slope.
At such a time, ordinary burdock flowers blooms its small flowers. This fluffy grass seemed to lurk among its neighbors, was almost imperceptible, and now it has straightened up, threw out a long spike-shaped inflorescence. Her stalk is slightly branched, all covered with long curly hairs. The leaf of the burdock is complex, as the botanists call it, intermittently pinnate - between the two large lobes in pairs are smaller leaves. The leaves are dark green above, and gray below - the color gives a very thick velvety pubescence. Therefore, the plant is soft and warm to the touch.

A dense spike-shaped inflorescence blooms from below. One or two small flowers with a pleasant aroma rise from the sinuses of the bracts. Each flower consists of five sepals, the same number of yellow petals, 5-20 stamens and two pistils. Gradually, flowering is moving up, and so it continues almost the entire summer. If the grass is mowed or trampled by cattle, it will quickly grow and can bloom a second time. Sometimes in September you can see flowers of burdock.
When several buds remain unopened at the top of the flowering brush, the nuts are clearly visible at the bottom of the inflorescence. They are covered with numerous spines that are hooked at the apex. Ripened fruits are easily separated from the plant and cling to animal hair. That's why they called grass burdock. And they also call it lipnik, collapse. Ukrainian folk names - turnip, turnip, turnip, rose, spool, zradselie, chicken legs, cats, shells (the plant seems to be dressed in a coat of silver hairs).

But agrimony was especially revered as a remedy for wounds received in battle. Valafrid Strabo wrote that “if suddenly the body suddenly causes hostile wounds to the iron”, a crushed branch of grass should be attached to the sore spot, which “is famous for its abundance is famous for its qualities”, “we will immediately restore the former health to this art”. The author relied on the opinion of Dioscorides that this plant has the power to "glue wounds."
